Information Technology

In terms of learning
Our school has outstanding achievements in information technology, which has been fully integrated into students' learning. Teachers select different electronic teaching materials in the classroom and conduct interactive teaching through tools such as computers, tablets or touch screens.

In recent years, with government funding, our school has re-installed the campus-wide wireless network and purchased over one hundred tablets to provide students with interactive learning opportunities in the classroom, thereby enhancing teaching effectiveness and students' learning interest. Our school also makes good use of its care fund to support underprivileged students, implementing a "Bring Your Own Tablet (BYOD) program" across all senior grades. This program uses tablets to enhance multimedia learning, interactive classroom activities, and increase classroom engagement and student motivation, allowing students to fully benefit from using tablets for learning.

Our school is well-equipped with information technology facilities, including two multimedia rooms: a computer lab and a language lab. The computer lab is primarily used for IT teaching, where teachers utilize it extensively during computer classes, allowing students to practice their learned computer skills on a one-person-one-computer basis. The language lab is used by teachers and students for Mandarin, Chinese, and English classes. Students can use suitable online learning platforms or self-made software to improve their language skills in the language lab.

To enhance the interactivity of learning, interactive whiteboards were installed in the English classrooms. Touchscreen displays were installed in classrooms for grades one through three. These displays can simultaneously show the screens of multiple tablets, allowing students to easily share their learning outcomes with the whole class, achieving maximum presentation. Teachers can also immediately provide feedback on students' work through the touchscreens, strengthening students' thinking skills, stimulating creativity among learners of different levels, and fully experiencing a highly participatory and interactive learning style.

Our school has introduced 3D printers and incorporated 3D drawing into the curriculum for upper-grade students. This allows them to design 3D models on computers, stimulating their imagination and creativity, and then print them out as finished products. This fosters students' creativity and allows them to experience the latest technological advancements. Recently, our students used these printers to create works for a competition and won the "Little Maker 3D Printing Creative Competition - Junior Group Champion".

In addition, the school purchased several 3D printing pens, which use the same materials as the 3D printers, providing students with more opportunities for 3D design and allowing them to visualize their imaginations through drawing. The students performed exceptionally well and won the "First Prize in the 2nd 3D Frame-by-Frame Animation Design Competition - Primary School Group".

The internet is a boundless world, and computers can bring diverse and rich education. The school has prepared several online education platforms, allowing students to use suitable online learning platforms for self-study in their spare time to improve their self-learning abilities and enhance their practice skills. The main websites used include: Zhi'ai Chinese Platform, DR PC f@mily, Star Test Bank Platform, Chinese All-in-One, BEC Talking E-book, Information Little Campus, Modern Education Resource Library, Longman Textbook Online Resources, Educational Publishing House e-smart 2.0, Oxford iSolution, myBooks e-book website, and Star Wish Little Prince. Among these websites, the Zhi'ai Chinese Platform has the highest usage rate, reaching 98.69%. The average number of words read by our students ranks among the top in Hong Kong, demonstrating our students' great love for reading.

In higher grades, core subjects like Chinese, English, and Mathematics regularly utilize the STAR online assessment system. The website contains a large number of subject-specific questions and provides feedback reports for both students and teachers. Teachers can flexibly utilize this system in conjunction with the school's assessment mechanisms, adapting it to students' learning needs and pace, thereby improving student learning outcomes.

The benefits of coding are numerous, such as enhancing logical thinking, problem-solving, and information organization skills. For many years, the school has been teaching coding skills using Scratch in upper-level courses. In recent years, it has also emphasized promoting detached, elite training, such as teaching students App Inventor syntax so they can create Android applications. Our school encourages students to make good use of computers for creative work, and has won top three prizes in the "MasterCode Programming Contest" for three consecutive years.

Administrative aspects
The school currently uses a smart system to handle student attendance, roll call, fee payment, and library borrowing and returning. Students are required to bring their smart student IDs to school daily and use a terminal for roll call. Parents can check their child's attendance records via intranet. In addition, the school also collects various fees through students' smart accounts, such as book fees and activity fees. Parents can also view all transaction records on the intranet, making the information clear at a glance. Even if a student unfortunately loses their smart card, the money in the account will not be lost or misappropriated.

To enhance the efficiency of home-school communication, our school uses the eClass Parent App mobile application, allowing parents to view and review electronic notices, check their children's return-to-school times, account transaction records and balances, school calendars, and outstanding payments via their mobile phones. Parents can also receive the latest school announcements and emergency information (such as school event notices and school closures) through the eClass Parent App.

The school regularly shares school activities and information with parents through its website and intranet. Photos and videos of these activities are also uploaded online for students to enjoy and reminisce about. In addition, the school will notify parents via SMS in case of emergencies or important news, thereby enhancing the flow and interactivity of information.
