Purpose:

1. To cultivate students' listening, speaking and reading abilities.

2. To enhance students' knowledge of Mandarin pronunciation, so as to master the skills of speaking Mandarin.

3. To cultivate students' interest in learning Mandarin and their good self-learning ability.

1. Nearly half of the classes are taught Chinese in Mandarin, which helps improve students' Mandarin proficiency.

2. Create a Mandarin-speaking environment to increase students' opportunities to communicate with others in Mandarin.

3. Increase students' interest in learning Mandarin through online learning platforms.

4. Organize various types of Mandarin activities and competitions both on and off campus to improve students' Mandarin listening and speaking skills and enhance their self-confidence.

Course Description:

1. Students learn Mandarin knowledge, including Mandarin pinyin (tones, initials and finals), in two Mandarin classes each week.

2. Conduct different types of activities in the classroom, such as Cantonese-Mandarin challenge, tongue twister competition, question-and-answer games, and role-playing.

Learning activities:

1. Mandarin Ambassador

- Select outstanding students from each class to serve as Mandarin ambassadors and assist teachers in promoting various Mandarin activities.

2. Cantonese-Mandarin Competition

- We hold Cantonese-Mandarin translation challenges during breaks from time to time to improve students' translation skills between Mandarin and Cantonese.

3. Chongzhen Radio/TV Station

- Mandarin programs are broadcast during lunchtime. Radio programs include song requests, radio dramas, and Q&A sessions for students regarding Cantonese-Mandarin translation. Television programs include feature interviews, Mandarin jokes, proverbs, and introductions to Chinese dialects.

4. Mandarin Day

Held annually in the second semester, Mandarin Day activities include booth games, talent competitions, midday TV program broadcasts, "Find the Mystery Guest," and "Speak Mandarin," actively promoting Mandarin speaking among students.

5. Online learning platforms

Students can visit the language lab to learn various aspects of Mandarin using different online learning platforms. Through engaging games and diverse listening exercises, students can improve their Mandarin listening and pronunciation skills.

6. Other activities

-We invite different organizations to perform Mandarin dramas and variety shows at the school from time to time. This year, our school invited staff and singers from RTHK Mandarin Channel to perform at the school. Afterwards, students were invited to be interviewed by the radio station.
